As many of us know (and if you don't then please read this) Rune Lindbæk has sued Röyksopp filed a complaint to the district court of Bergen, over co-writer rights. The trail is set to start the 18th of February 2013, and is expected to last for 5 days. That is if the complaint survives the new twist of this case...
Lindbæk started to pursue this complaint in England some years ago, but only filed it this year. And since England has different laws regarding when a complaint becomes obsolescent then Norway, Röyksopp might get off the hook and case dismissed. That is at least what their lawyer, Harald Bjelke jr., think will happen since. According to him the complaint was obsolescent in 2004, three years after "Melody A.M." was released.
The district court of Bergen will give their verdict about this new twist in the end of October or in November 2012, so Jean-Michel Jarre still has some time to get involved...
Update: Part of the complaint was indeed ruled obsolescent. The complaint is now only valid for being credited as a composer and compensation for sales "A Higher Place" has generated since 2009.
mtok continues to stay neutral, at least until the next twist!
